Four year old fun

May brings the culmination of our school year with children working to master writing of first and last names, finishing the alphabet, continuing with more phonic awareness and learning our addresses and phone numbers. We continue to prepare the children for kindergarten with readiness concepts.

This month also brings growing plants, insects, caterpillars, ladybugs, spring walks and Mother’s Day.

The Librarian from the Huntingdon Valley Library visited some our classes this year and read stories and donated a copy of “Up Down and All Around” as part of PA. program that was available.

This is the time during the end of the year when special projects are being worked on by the children to give to their parents as keepsakes of their preschool experience.

Our end of the year celebrations are spent either having a picnic, pizza or special snack.  Songs are sung and farewells are said as the children move on to kindergarten.

You will receive progress reports for a final time  as well as your child’s portfolios during the last week of school.

Good luck in Kindergarten, stop in to visit, we love when our friends come back to see us!

Threes in action

In May, the three year old classes will be focusing on the trip to Fox Chase Farm by learning about farm animals, by incorporating books, hands-on activities, and crafts. We will also explore how caterpillars turn into butterflies, how many legs insects have, and how birds grow and fly.

It will be fun to work on our phonemic awareness by playing with words in riddles and rhymes. We will celebrate our love for our Mothers while creating fun crafts and spending time with our Moms during Mom and Kid’s Day.

We have had fun planting seeds while talking about how plants grow and how much we have grown throughout the year. You may even see a fantastic class project to help us celebrate the end of our year. It is amazing how much we have changed over the year!

Progress reports and portfolios will be given out at the end of the school year.

We are looking forward to a wonderful summer and more educational fun in the four year old classes!

News in the Two’s

Planting flowers and seeds, investigating butterflies and caterpillars, flowers, and worms are just a few things on this month’s agenda. We also are working on rhyming and name recognition. We continue to practice sharing, taking turns being patient and of course working on our manners.

Our youngest friends have accomplished quite a bit this school year. They now walk to the playground, put their coats on and find their own bags to go home. They are also washing their own hands, getting good at recognizing colors and shapes and are working on those listening skills. Exhausting, isn't it??? (But we do find time to play!)

The CE 2’s will be introduced to chapel this month! Both classes will also spend a day with Mom at school during Mom and Kids day, and celebrate the end of the year.

We all look forward to next year. Have a nice summer! Enjoy your time with your family.

 Just a few reminders:

Help your child become independent by dressing them in “easy access” clothing and by letting them walk into the building and carry their own school bag.  Many of our 2 year old friends are still being carried into the building, save your backs and help them become more independent!
