Preschool Summer Kid Camp

We will be having Extended Summer Camp this June thru August. Camp is staffed by current Gloria Dei Preschool staff members and substitutes. Children are divided by age groups similar to those during the preschool year. Eight sessions will be offered for children turning 3 by the start of camp through age 6 (children who have completed Kindergarten by June 08). Children must be potty trained and have attended preschool in order to attend camp. This program is open to current families of our school. The sessions will begin on Monday, June 2nd and end on Friday, August 1st. You may sign your child up for any or all sessions during camp. A completed camp enrollment form and deposit must accompany all camp registrations. A flyer will be sent home shortly with information. Please be prompt with your registrations, space will be limited.

Library News

Many thanks to my new library volunteers for sharing their time to help out in the preschool library!

Parent Resource Library: Please remember to check the Parent’s resource book shelf that is a freestanding unit in front of the bulletin board in the preschool library. We have accumulated all kind of varied books on parenting issues as well as books to read with your child. In addition we have a large selection of VHS tapes. All parents are welcome to sign out any of these resources by stopping in the office and filling out a card.  We really would like to see these books and resources being used!

Sincerely,

Karen Appel, Librarian

Computer Class

Computer classes will be held after school on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, beginning in the month of October. Sign ups will be on a monthly basis. A computer class brochure and sign up sheet has been included in your parent packet. Sign up sheets will be available outside the library beginning in October. Please drop off your completed sign up slip and payment in the designated bin inside of the library. Feel free to call or stop in the office if you have any questions.

 Preschool E-Mail Address

Please feel free to use our e-mail address to communicate with the office. The school e-mail: gdkids@gloriadei.com is checked first thing every morning. Email the school directly for office communications, our director as needed for confidential e-mails, or matters you need to discuss with her directly.

Pretzel Days

Pretzel sales are scheduled for 2 - 3 days a month.  Parent volunteers bag and sell the pretzels outside the preschool doors.  Katie McGoldrick, a PTO member, is coordinating the pretzel sales.  A note will be posted on the classroom bulletin boards.  Pretzels are $1.00 for a bag of four.  Any remaining pretzels will also be on sale for the PM pals outside the preschool office.

E-SCRIPT PROGRAM:

Do you know that you can give money to the school and it won’t cost you a thing?  How?  By joining the E-script program sponsored by Genuardi’s.  If you are a member, renew by November 1, 2007 or sign up to join at www.esrip.com.  Our school ID# is 2298330.

Also part of this program is inkjet, toner, and cell phone recycling.  A collection bin is located at the top of the stairs on the preschool floor.  You can find a list of acceptable manufacturers on www.esrip.com under recycling.  Ask your friends, neighbors, and business associates to join in helping out this program.  Your contributions help us to purchase extra supplies!

Campbell’s Soup Labels

Thank you for your participation in the Labels for Education Program.  We have collected over 3,000 points this year.  Please be sure to save your labels over the summer.  Remember, we now only need UPC’s and caps from participating Labels for Education brands.

Preschool Board:

Many thanks to the members of Preschool Board. As you know, the Board of Gloria Dei guides school policies and programs. They have been a wonderful source of information and support for the school. Our members who serve on the Board are:  Pastor Jarrett Hanson, Stan Hamilton (Church Council Representative,) Bonnie Magill (Church member and Chairperson,) Barbara Fricke (Church member), Kelly Kupper, Michele Medori and Lisa Fazio (church members and parents of current preschoolers). Joan Heiselmoyer, Evelyn Wallace and Florence D’Adamo (staff members.)

The Board met bi-monthly and accomplished many tasks which involved matters concerning financial, policies, enrollment, staffing, school calendar, public relations, and program review. The board continues to be a wonderful support system for our Director and help to make a productive and beneficial year for the staff, parents, and children.  We are blessed by a caring, talented group of people who have the best interest of the school in mind. Our next meeting will include a “Thank You” dinner for the board members. We will also meet to finish up with business for this year and to begin the process for the new school year.

Your concerns are important and you are welcome at any time to speak with a board member or our Director at anytime.
